January 22, 2020. At our luncheon on this date, the leadership of Palmer Township provides a “State of the Township” address. Board of Supervisors Chairman Dave Colver began the program by giving a summary of the various projects completed in 2019 or will be worked on in 2020. He also talked about various private projects and development which are underway in the township. Township manager Bob Williams follow Dave with a summary of the administration plans for 2020. The highlights included the fact that there will not be any property tax in the township and that large capital investments will be undertaken to upgrade the road system where needed, work on some of the parks and several building improvements. Police Chief Larry Palmer ended by giving a summary of the Police Department. These include: serious crimes have dropped by 6% from 2018 to 2019 and the non-serious crimes have dropped 5% in the same time frame; there were 129 males, 59 females and 59 juveniles arrested; there were 193 and 97 female motor vehicle citations; the department body-worn cameras; Detective James Taylor was awarded Officer of the Year by the Northampton County Council of Police Chiefs; long-time officer Dave Brotzman retired; the Chief created the position of Sergeant of Operational Support and Technology; and, the department conducted several active shooter training for churches in the township.
